POTTY TRAINING SAGA CONTINUES…
I started potty training Christian when he turned one. In fact, it was a little earlier than that because I remember watching Kandi from house wives of Atlanta potty train her son when he was just 6 months old. I thought it is was the weirdest thing but became very eager to try. Her logic behind it made sense so I figured what the heck. Of course after 5 minutes of trying, I gave up.
When he turned two, the daycare at the time suggested I start to train him again because they were starting to work with all the two year olds and so I attempted again. He’d come home from daycare and I’d take him straight to the bathroom; I’d sit him on the potty but he wouldn’t use it. I’d ask him repeatly if he needed to use it and he’d say no. Two minutes later, his diaper would be wet.. Like what just happened? I asked you .. you said no… so again, I gave up!
A couple months ago, I went at it again. This time with the help of many of you and your suggestions, I felt a bit more motivated to get through it because honestly I’m so through spending double money on these diapers. Like who told me to have these kids back to back? Anyho, my sister suggested I get him a potty watch; for those of you who don’t know what that is, its a watch that helps children remember to try to go potty by playing music and lighting up. I absolutely loved the idea and thought this would really work for him so I purchased it off of Amazon. All I did was set the timer for 30 minutes and flashing lights and music came on when it was time to try going to the potty. The timer automatically resets itself to provide consistent remainders all day long. This went on for a week straight, it was a party every time the alarm went off; he’d go without a problem. Before taking his mid-day naps, I’d usually take his watch off and put on a pull up but for some odd reason I left the watch on his wrist and he went to bed. When he woke up from his nap, I noticed the watch was missing so I asked him:
Me: Christian, where’s your watch?
Christian: I don’t know
Now let me quickly give you the back story before I tell you where I found the watch. Prior to this potty watch, he loves “CARS” the movie; so I told him that Madar and Lighten Mcqueen lived in the potty and that they needed to be fed daily otherwise they’d be hungry. I said you need to feed them every time you use the potty lol.. he agreed
Me: Christian, where is the watch?
Christian: Mommy, I gave Mcqueen & Madar food..
SMH looked in the toilet and there it was.. What do you think I did after that? Yep, I quit!!!!!!!
Last weekend, my cousin flew in to Atlanta to help celebrate my sisters birthday and noticed Christian was still not potty trained and took it upon herself to train him. Better for me because this mom here is completely OVER IT!. Well as of today, I’m proud to say that Christian is finally using the potty on a consistent basis, no thanks to me lol
Be nice to me, share the info
